I started working with Jeff almost 3 years ago in an active rehabilitation capacity for a back injury from a car accident. He is incredibly knowledgeable and developed a program that has helped immensely in my recovery.

After my motor vehicle accident,  I was referred to Forge for an active rehab program and received an a thorough assessment and treatment from Hamid/Larissa. Great philosophy in terms of helping people to get back into sports/activities. Overall, they are genuine and sincere people to help you recover from your injuries.

I was in a car accident and have been through numerous physiotherapy clinics and visited many ‘professionals’ throughout my recovery. Forge was the last place I tried, and I was very skeptical that I would ever begin to fully recover when I started. After a few months of training however, I can unequivocally state that working with the trainers at Forge has been the best thing for recovery so far, hands-down.

The approach is in the name – Integrated. I was given an active rehab plan tailored specifically to my needs which included personal training as well as IMS therapy – they do it all at Forge. I can’t speak highly enough of the service and professionalism these people provide, and the pride they take in their work.

University educated, certified kinesiologists are a recognized treatment provider with ICBC under their part 7 benefits.  Therefore an ICBC active rehab program is a funded program for eligible ICBC clients who are in need of getting stronger and learning to exercise around their injuries, post accident.
It is a good idea to have a conversation with your doctor and/or physio, chiro, massage therapist(s) about when it is appropriate you for to start active rehabilitation. The earlier you start an active component of your rehabilitation, the quicker you will recover.

Starting April 1 2019, if your MVA was on, or after April 1, 2019 and you are seeking treatment for the first time within 12 weeks of your MVA accident, you are entitled to 12 pre-approved physiotherapy treatments without having to see your doctor.

Yes, provided that you are still feeling that these therapies are benefitting you.  We will communicate to your other practitioners to ensure your recovery team remains focussed on streamlining your recovery.
After your initial assessment and consultation your kinesiologist will recommend a treatment plan that will help you address your most pressing needs in the most time effective manner.  We will help customize a schedule that optimizes your maximal recovery.
Each ICBC Kinesiology directed ICBC active rehab session is 60 minutes in length with 45min of instruction (15 min of warm up/cool down time, and is taught in a 1:1 setting with your registered Kinesiologist.
Because we customize your program based on your current injuries, job demands, experience and goals, all our programs vary in length.  Once we assess you and work with you for a few weeks, we will be better able to predict when you will no longer need our guidance to exercise safely and manage your pain symptoms effectively.  

On average, each program can run from 6-8 weeks over the course of 12-20 sessions, but this estimation is based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to:

  • The nature, length and severity of your injury(ies)
  • Your specific recovery goals
  • Your attendance/commitment level (both during each session and with your home program)
While we want to provide a fun, positive environment in which to teach you how to rehabilitate your injuries, we are fully aware that your time is valuable.  We want to give back some of your free time once you’ve mastered your program’s content. In order for us to make sure you’re ready to attempt some independent work, we will cover the following in clinic.

  1. Educate our patients on self directed pain management and preventative techniques   
  2. Teach proper activation and biomechanics doing progressively challenging functional movements to rebuild balance around the affected joints.
  3. Upon positive response and consistency in movement mechanics, attempt a customized independent program with a gradual weaning off to full independence.

We will be excited to motivate you to practice this content on your own, knowing you can still utilize your Kinesiologist, but now in a reduced role to help you navigate back towards your return to play activities.

Beginning April 1, 2019 you can now select a no user fee ICBC Kinesiology session.

To participate in our ICBC active rehab program, you must be eligible to receive program funding from ICBC.  Follow these 3 easy steps and our staff will contact your ICBC adjuster and/or lawyer to secure your program’s funding.

THE CHECKLIST

  • GET A FAMILY DOCTOR REFERRAL
    Get your family doctor to refer you to our kinesiology directed active rehabilitation program.
    Download Referral Pad

  • MAKE COPIES OF YOUR REFERRAL
    Make several copies of the Doctor’s Referral once filled in. Give one copy to the ICBC adjuster, one copy to your lawyer (if involved) and one to us. Keep the original for your records.

  • GET IN TOUCH WITH US
    Provide us with the name of your adjuster, contact details, your claim number and your lawyer’s contact info.
    We will contact your Lawyer on your behalf, and with their permission deal directly with ICBC.

STEP 2: GET ASSESSED

Your Kinesiologist will assist you in mapping out your own personalized road to recovery with a recovery consultation in a relaxed atmosphere to learn more about you, followed by a functional rehabilitation assessment.

Your Recovery Consultation includes:

  • Learning about your injury history and treatment timeline.

  • Understanding your current limitations around your injuries.

  • Assisting you in re-establishing life balance in a timely fasion; understanding which activities are the most important.

Your Functional Rehab Assessment includes:

  • Complete functional evaluation assessing your current joint balance, stability strength, functional movement patterns and flexibility.

  • Examination of your functional movement markers such as, range of motion, joint stability, muscular strength and muscular firing patterns.

  • Explanation of the results of your assessment along with a clearly detailed overview of what your Kinesiologist’s initial treatment plan will entail.

  • Establishing goal setting strategies with the intention of getting you back to the activities you loved doing before your injury.

Work one to one with your favourite certified kinesiologist on your road to recovery. We know your injury is unique and requires our undivided attention which is why our exercise rehabilitation sessions are only offered in a one on one setting; to ensure the most efficient recovery process possible.
